NEW UNH SURVEY: 6 in 10 Granite Staters are Worried About Gas Prices While Sununu Supports Trump’s War With Iran

NEW UNH SURVEY: 6 in 10 Granite Staters are Worried About Gas Prices While Sununu Supports Trump’s War With Iran

A new survey from the University of New Hampshire shows a whopping 61 percent of Granite Staters are “worried about paying for gasoline over the next twelve months” and 82 percent say Donald Trump is responsible for the higher gas prices, which is a five alarm fire for Trump-endorsed Republican U.S. Senate candidate John Sununu who supports Trump’s costly war of choice with Iran.

While Trump’s price hikes are hurting New Hampshire small businesses and forcing hardworking families to reconsider their summer plans, Sununu is reaping the benefits of Trump’s policies by holding stocks in Big Oil companies and accepting more than $80,000 in contributions from the industry, which Granite Staters also consider responsible for higher prices.

Granite Staters are also souring on Trump’s economy. Two-thirds believe the economy is getting worse and nearly half anticipate bad times over the next year. Donald Trump will continue to be a massive liability for Sununu, who said he’s running for Senate to “protect those gains” that Donald Trump and Republicans have made in Congress and because this race is “important to President Trump’s agenda and to the successes that have been made in Washington.”

Read toplines from the survey below:

  • Six in ten New Hampshire residents say they are worried about paying for gasoline over the next twelve months.
  • Eighty-two percent of Granite Staters say President Trump is responsible for the higher cost of gasoline.
  • Four in five New Hampshire residents (eighty percent) say oil companies are responsible for higher gasoline prices.
  • Forty-two percent of New Hampshire residents say they have cut spending on non-essentials because of higher gasoline prices over the past three months, and forty-two percent have traveled fewer miles in their day-to-day life.
  • Granite Staters are less positive about their personal finances compared to a year ago and many expect to be worse off a year from now.
  • Nearly half of New Hampshire residents anticipate bad times over the next year and two-thirds believe the economy is getting worse.
